About Hopsmith Brewing

Who it is for

Hopsmith is a Shopify theme for a craft brewery that ships beer and gifts and wants a bit of swagger. It suits a small brewery with a rotating list of lagers, IPAs, sours and stouts, plus a taproom story, where helping customers choose is as important as listing the beers.

How the pages are laid out

Starting at the home page: a hand-forged headline, a 'Fresh this week' row, a 'Tell us your thirst' prompt that leads to the beer finder, a section about iron, fire and four ingredients, regulars' quotes, taproom posts and a Brew Crew signup. The Beer finder page explains ABV and IBU and sorts beers into Session, Standard, Big and Sipper. The shop page, 'All beer & gifts', can be opened by family, such as lager, and has a 'No beers match that' state. Product, cart, search, About, Harvest week, a Brew Log and Contact & FAQ complete it.

Design notes

Industrial with a craft-shop grin. Big Shoulders Display makes tall, stamped headlines, Rokkitt adds a slab-serif accent for labels, Work Sans keeps body copy tidy, and a golden-amber ground evokes beer and hot metal, with black type on top.

Good to know

It is a Shopify Online Store 2.0 theme, with cart drawer and filtering among its features. For this theme the Shopify package is made to order, like the WordPress and Next.js versions, and each platform is a separate $9 purchase. Age checks and shipping rules for alcohol are not part of the theme.
