These steps apply to themes sold for Next.js. Check the theme page for the exact setup notes of each package.

Run it locally

  1. Unzip your download and open the project folder in a terminal.
  2. Install dependencies with npm install.
  3. Start the development server with npm run dev and open the address it prints, usually http://localhost:3000.
  4. Edit the content and data files, replacing the sample text and images with your own.

Build it

Run npm run build. If the theme is set up for static export, the build creates a folder of static files. Read the project's README to confirm what your package produces.

Deploy to Vercel

  1. Put the project in a Git repository on GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket.
  2. In Vercel, choose Add New → Project and import the repository.
  3. Accept the detected Next.js settings and click Deploy.
  4. Add your custom domain under the project's Settings → Domains.

Deploy to Netlify

  1. Push the project to a Git repository.
  2. In Netlify, choose Add new site → Import an existing project and select the repository.
  3. Use the build command and publish directory suggested for your package (for static export, the build command is npm run build and the publish directory is the output folder named in the README).
  4. Click Deploy, then add your domain under Domain management.

Environment variables

If the project documents environment variables, add them in the host's settings rather than committing them to Git.
